Do I still have access after downgrading to the free plan?

Yes. Downgrading to the free plan keeps your account active with the free tier limits (200 MAU or 1M transactions per month). Access continues uninterrupted after the downgrade takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle.

Will I get a refund after cancelling?

No. PubNub's Terms of Service (Section 8.6) explicitly state no refunds are issued unless expressly specified in your agreement. You also continue to be billed for the remainder of the current month after requesting a downgrade.

Can I reactivate my paid plan after downgrading?

Yes. You can upgrade back to a paid plan at any time from the 'Plans and billing' section in the Admin Portal at admin.pubnub.com.

How do I fully delete my PubNub account?

Full account deletion is not self-serve. Log in to the Admin Portal, go to 'My Account' → 'Support', and submit an account deletion request. PubNub will send a follow-up confirmation email. Alternatively, email support@pubnub.com.

What happens if I miss the 30-day cancellation notice deadline?

If your cancellation email to support@pubnub.com arrives fewer than 30 days before the end of your current billing period, PubNub will charge you for one additional month per their Terms of Service (Section 5.2).

Can PubNub cancel my free plan without notice?

Yes. Per the Terms of Service (Section 5.3), PubNub reserves the right to discontinue the free tier immediately and without prior notice.

Log in to Admin Portal

Go to https://admin.pubnub.com and sign in with your PubNub account credentials.

Open My Account menu

Click the 'My Account' dropdown in the top-right corner of the Admin Dashboard.

Go to Plans and Billing

Select 'Plans and billing' from the dropdown menu.

Open Pricing Plans tab

Click the 'Pricing plans' tab within the Plans and billing section.

Select the Free plan

Choose the Free plan option and confirm the downgrade. The change takes effect on the first day of the following billing month — you will not be refunded for the remaining current period.

Optional: Request full account deletion

If you want your account fully deleted (not just downgraded), go back to 'My Account' → 'Support' and submit a deletion request. Alternatively, email support@pubnub.com with at least 30 days' notice before your next billing cycle ends — late notice results in one additional month being charged.
