Will I get a refund when I cancel?

No. Stream's Terms of Service do not provide refunds for unused time on normal customer-initiated cancellations. Your access continues until the end of the paid term, but no prorated refund is issued.

What happens to my data after cancellation?

Access to the Stream service — including all stored messages, feeds, and media — is terminated at the end of your subscription term. Stream's pricing pages note that data storage is only active while your plan is. Export your data from the dashboard before your term ends.

Can I cancel a monthly plan at any time?

Yes, but you must send a written non-renewal notice to legal@getstream.io at least 30 days before your next monthly renewal date. If the notice is not received in time, the plan auto-renews for another month at the current rate.

Can I downgrade to the free tier instead of cancelling?

Possibly. Stream offers a free Build tier (Chat: 1,000 MAU / 100 concurrent connections; Feeds: 125,000 API calls/month). Whether self-serve downgrade is available in the dashboard is not publicly documented — contact support or sales to request a downgrade rather than a full cancellation.

Can I reactivate my account after cancelling?

Stream does not publicly document a reactivation process. You would need to contact their sales team at sales@getstream.io or via https://getstream.io/contact/ to discuss restarting a paid subscription.

How do I cancel a free trial?

Free trials can be ended at any time with no obligation. Per Stream's Terms, trial services carry no warranty and you can simply choose not to convert to a paid plan. No formal written notice is required for trial cancellation.

Log in to the Stream Dashboard

Go to https://dashboard.getstream.io/ and sign in with your account credentials.

Review your current plan and billing term

Check your subscription type (monthly or annual) and note your renewal date. You must submit your cancellation notice at least 30 days before the renewal date — if missed, the plan auto-renews for another full billing period.

Prepare a written cancellation notice

Draft an email stating you wish to cancel (non-renew) your subscription. Include your account name, the product(s) you use (Chat, Feeds, Video, etc.), and your desired cancellation effective date (end of current term).

Export your data before the term ends

Before your subscription ends, export any data you need (message history, activity feeds, etc.) from the dashboard. Access to all stored data is terminated at the end of the subscription term.
