What happens to my data when I cancel?

The instance is deleted immediately when you click the cancel button. Metabase's Terms of Service provide a 30-day window to download Customer Data after termination, but the self-service flow deletes the instance on the spot — you should export your data before cancelling. Contact support before cancelling if you need a backup of your application database.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

No. Metabase's hosting Terms of Service explicitly state that all payments, once paid, are non-refundable — including upfront annual payments. The only exception is if Metabase materially breaches the agreement and fails to cure within 10 days, in which case you are entitled to a refund for the unused prepaid portion.

Can I reactivate my instance after cancellation?

Not through self-service. Once cancelled, recovering a deleted instance requires contacting Metabase support and asking developers to restore it, which takes one to two days and is not guaranteed. There is no standard reactivation flow.

Do I need to cancel a free trial to avoid being charged?

No. Metabase's 14-day Pro trial automatically reverts to the free Starter plan when it expires — no cancellation action is required and no charge is made.

How do I cancel an Enterprise plan?

Enterprise plans cannot be self-service cancelled. You must contact billing@metabase.com or send written notice of non-renewal at least 15 days before your renewal date.

Can I downgrade instead of cancelling?

Yes. From the Instances view in the Metabase Store, click 'Manage plan' to downgrade from Pro to Starter rather than cancelling entirely. This keeps your instance running on the free Starter tier.

Export your data first

Before cancelling, export any dashboards, questions, or data you need. Cancellation immediately deletes the instance — go to Settings and export or contact support@metabase.com to request a backup of your application database.

Log in to Metabase Store

Go to https://store.metabase.com and sign in with your Metabase account credentials.

Open the Instances section

From the dashboard, click on 'Instances' in the navigation to see all your active Metabase Cloud instances.

Locate the instance to cancel

Find the specific instance whose subscription you want to cancel.

Click 'Cancel subscription and delete instance'

Click the red button labeled 'Cancel subscription and delete instance'. Note: this single action both cancels billing AND permanently deletes the instance and all its data immediately.
