Can I still access my sheets after canceling?

Yes, until your subscription end date you retain full access. After that, sheets transition to read-only status. If you chose 'end of subscription' cancellation, sheets are fully deleted 30 days after the subscription expires. If you canceled immediately, the 30-day read-only grace period begins right away.

Will I get a refund for the unused portion of my subscription?

No. Smartsheet does not offer pro-rated refunds for early cancellation. You will retain access through the end of your paid billing period but will not be reimbursed for any remaining time.

Can I reactivate my account after canceling?

Yes. You can reactivate by logging back in and choosing a new plan before your data is permanently deleted. If you resubscribe within the 30-day post-expiry grace period, your sheets can be recovered from 'Deleted Items'. After that window, data is permanently gone.

What happens to sheets shared with me after I cancel?

You retain access to sheets that other users have shared with you even after your own account is canceled or downgraded. You can view and collaborate on those sheets, but you will not be able to create new sheets yourself.

How far in advance do I need to cancel to avoid being charged for renewal?

You must submit your cancellation at least 30 days before your subscription renewal date. Canceling less than 30 days before renewal may result in being charged for the next full term with no refund.

How do I cancel an Enterprise plan?

Enterprise plans cannot be self-canceled through the app. You must contact your dedicated Smartsheet sales representative or reach out to the Smartsheet Account and Billing team directly to initiate cancellation.

Log in to Smartsheet

Go to app.smartsheet.com and sign in with your account credentials. You must be the account owner (Pro plans) or a System Admin (Business plans) to cancel. Enterprise plan holders must contact their Smartsheet sales representative directly — self-service cancellation is not available.

Open Account menu

Click your account avatar or name in the upper-left corner of the screen to open the account menu, then select 'Account' from the dropdown.

Go to Plan & Billing Info

In the Account panel, click 'Plan & Billing Info'. This opens your current subscription details, billing cycle dates, and plan management options.

Click Cancel Account

Scroll down on the Plan & Billing Info page and click the 'Cancel Account' button. Note: If you only want to downgrade rather than fully cancel, click 'Switch to Free' instead to retain a free-tier account.

Select Cancel my plan

In the dialog that appears, select 'Cancel my plan' to proceed with full cancellation (as opposed to pausing or downgrading).

Choose cancellation timing

Select one of two options: 'Cancel account at the end of my current subscription' (you retain access until the billing period ends, then sheets go read-only for 30 days before deletion) or 'Cancel your account immediately' (access ends right away). The end-of-subscription option is pre-selected as the default.

Confirm cancellation

Click 'Confirm cancellation' to finalize. A confirmation page will display your cancellation date.

Complete exit survey

Smartsheet presents a short exit survey asking why you are canceling. Fill it out and click 'Submit' to complete the process. You will receive a confirmation email.
