Yes. Your paid access continues until the end of the current billing period (monthly or annual). After that, your account reverts to the free version of the editor, which still highlights readability issues but removes AI-powered rewrite and grammar tools.

Do I need to cancel my free trial to avoid being charged?

No. All Hemingway Editor Plus trials end automatically after 14 days without charging you. You will only be billed if you manually enter payment information and choose a paid plan.

Are refunds available after canceling?

Hemingway Editor does not publish a formal refund policy. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — email support@hemingwayapp.com to request one, ideally within a short window after being billed.

Can I reactivate my subscription after canceling?

Yes. You can resubscribe at any time by logging into your account and selecting a plan on the Hemingway Editor Plus page at hemingwayapp.com/hemingway-editor-plus.

What happens to my documents when I cancel?

Hemingway Editor does not currently offer persistent cloud document storage (it is a planned future feature). Your documents are not stored on Hemingway's servers, so canceling your subscription has no effect on files you have saved locally.

How does a Team Plan admin cancel the team subscription?

Team Plan admins manage members and billing from the Team Page, accessible via the account menu. To cancel the team subscription, navigate to the Billing page and cancel there, or email support@hemingwayapp.com with your admin account email requesting team plan cancellation.

Log in to your account

Go to hemingwayapp.com and click 'Log in' in the top-right corner. Sign in with Google or enter your email address to receive a magic sign-in link.

Open the account menu

Once logged in, click on your email address or profile icon in the top-right corner of the editor interface to open the account/navigation menu.

Navigate to the Billing page

In the account menu, click 'Billing' to open your subscription and payment settings.

Cancel your subscription

On the Billing page, locate the option to cancel or end your subscription and click it. Confirm any follow-up prompts to complete the cancellation.

If no self-service option, email support

If you cannot find a cancel button on the Billing page, email support@hemingwayapp.com from your account email address with the subject 'Cancel my subscription'. Include your account email and plan type. Send this well before your next renewal date — some users report slow response times.

Check for confirmation email

Look for a cancellation confirmation email in your inbox. If you do not receive one within 2 business days, follow up with support to confirm the cancellation was processed.
