When does the cancellation take effect?

The cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, not immediately. You retain full paid-tier access and all iCloud+ features until that date.

Will my photos and files be deleted right away?

No. Your data is not immediately deleted. After the billing period ends, iCloud stops syncing new data if you exceed 5GB. Device backups not updated for 180 days may eventually be deleted. Apple recommends downloading all data before downgrading.

Apple does not issue automatic prorated refunds — you keep access until the billing period ends. If you recently subscribed or changed your plan (within ~14 days), you can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Processing takes 24–48 hours. EU users have a statutory 14-day withdrawal right.

Can I reactivate my subscription and recover my data?

Yes. If you resubscribe before your data is deleted, all iCloud data (photos, files, backups) reappears and syncing resumes automatically. The safest reactivation window is within 180 days for device backups.

What features do I lose when I cancel iCloud+?

You lose all iCloud+ exclusive features: Hide My Email, iCloud Private Relay, Apple Invites, and HomeKit Secure Video support, plus the expanded storage above the free 5GB tier.

How do I cancel if I no longer have an Apple device?

Visit reportaproblem.apple.com or account.apple.com in any web browser, sign in with your Apple Account, and manage or cancel your subscription from there.

Open Settings

On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app. Tap your name (Apple Account) at the top of the screen.

Go to Subscriptions

On iOS 18.4 or later, tap 'Subscriptions'. On iOS 17 or earlier, tap 'iCloud' instead, then tap 'Manage Account Storage'.

Select iCloud+

Under the 'Active' section, tap 'iCloud+' to open the subscription details.

Tap Cancel Subscription

On iOS 18.4+, tap the 'Cancel Subscription' button. On older iOS versions, tap 'Downgrade Options', then select the free 5GB plan and tap 'Done'. On Mac: Apple menu → System Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Plan → Cancel Subscription.

Confirm cancellation

Confirm the cancellation when prompted. Apple displays a warning that your data may exceed the free 5GB limit. Confirm to proceed. The plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.
