Can I cancel SmartRecruiters online without contacting anyone?

No. SmartRecruiters does not provide a self-service cancellation option. All paid plans are annual enterprise contracts that must be cancelled by contacting your assigned Customer Success Manager or Account Executive directly, or by emailing supportfeedback@smartrecruiters.com.

Will I get a refund if I cancel before my contract ends?

No. All fees are explicitly non-refundable once paid (Section 3.1 of the T&Cs). The only exception is if SmartRecruiters commits a material breach of the agreement and fails to cure it within 30 days — in that case a prorated refund for unused months may be owed.

How long can I access my data after cancellation?

You have 30 days after the termination date to export your data via the Customer API at no additional charge. After 30 days, API access is revoked and your data is permanently deleted. Export everything you need before or immediately after cancelling.

Does the SmartRecruiters contract auto-renew?

Auto-renewal terms are defined in your individual Order Form, not the general Terms and Conditions. Review your Order Form for the specific notice deadline required to prevent auto-renewal — missing this deadline typically means you are committed to another full contract term.

What happens to my job postings after I cancel?

Job postings may remain active on external job boards even after your account is deactivated if you do not explicitly close them first. Manually close or withdraw all active postings inside SmartRecruiters before initiating cancellation to avoid receiving candidate applications after termination.

How do I delete my SmartRecruiters account data (GDPR/CCPA)?

SmartRecruiters does not offer self-service account deletion. To request full data deletion under GDPR or CCPA, email supportfeedback@smartrecruiters.com with your request citing the applicable regulation, or submit a formal request via yourdigitalrights.org.

Review your Order Form

Locate your signed Order Form and review the cancellation terms, including the contract end date, auto-renewal notice deadline, and any termination clauses. Cancellation terms are contract-specific and override the general T&Cs.

Close all active job postings

Before cancelling, manually close or withdraw all active job postings inside SmartRecruiters. Users have reported postings remaining live on job boards for over a year after account deactivation if not explicitly closed first.

Export your data

Download all candidate data, reports, and records you need to retain. After termination you have only a 30-day window to access data via the Customer API — after that it is permanently deleted with no recovery option.

Contact your Customer Success Manager or Account Executive

Reach out directly to your assigned CSM or Account Executive to initiate cancellation. There is no self-service cancel button in the platform. If you do not have an assigned rep, use the in-platform menu: click your name/avatar in the top-right corner → 'Contact Support', or email supportfeedback@smartrecruiters.com, or call +1 (415) 659-9130.

Send written termination notice

Per Section 13.13 of the Terms and Conditions, termination notice must be sent in writing — either by tracked delivery or by email — to the addresses specified in your Order Form. A verbal request or informal email to support is not sufficient. You must obtain written acknowledgment of receipt from SmartRecruiters.

Confirm cancellation and end date

Get written confirmation of your cancellation, your official contract end date, and that all outstanding fees have been settled. Note that per Section 4.3, any remaining unpaid fees for the current contract term become immediately due and payable upon termination.
