Will I lose my data when I cancel?

No — downgrading to the Free plan preserves all your peers, users, groups, policies, and routes. You retain access but are limited to the Free tier (up to 5 users and 100 machines). Only full account deletion removes your data permanently.

When does the cancellation take effect?

The downgrade to the Free plan takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You will be charged for any active usage during the current period, as NetBird uses usage-based billing calculated daily at 2 AM UTC.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

NetBird does not publish a refund policy. Since billing is usage-based (charged at the end of each cycle for actual usage), there is typically no pre-paid amount to refund. Annual plan subscribers should contact legal@netbird.io directly.

How do I completely delete my account?

Go to Settings, scroll to the 'Danger Zone' section, and click 'Delete Account'. This is irreversible — all peers, users, groups, policies, and routes are permanently deleted. Only the account owner (not admins) can perform this action.

Can I reactivate my subscription after cancelling?

Yes. If you downgraded to Free, you can upgrade back to a paid plan at any time from the Plans & Billing page in Settings. If you deleted your account entirely, logging back in creates a new empty account with no recovery of previous data.

How much notice is required to cancel?

According to NetBird's Terms of Service, subscriptions can be cancelled at any time by the end of the month with 14 days' notice. In practice, the self-serve downgrade via the dashboard handles this automatically.

Log in to NetBird dashboard

Go to https://app.netbird.io and sign in with your account credentials.

Open Settings

Click on 'Settings' in the left sidebar navigation.

Go to Plans & Billing

Click the 'Plans & Billing' tab at the top of the Settings page. You can also navigate directly to https://app.netbird.io/settings?tab=plans-and-billing.

Select the Free plan

Find the Free plan option and click it to select it as your new plan. This effectively cancels your paid subscription.

Confirm the downgrade

Confirm the plan change when prompted. The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle — you will be charged for the current period's active usage.
