Will I lose access to my data immediately after cancelling?

No. If you downgrade to the Free plan, your workspace and data remain accessible. If you delete the workspace, you have a 5-day grace period where you can still access it and revoke the deletion. After 5 days, the workspace is permanently deleted and data is purged within 30 days.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

Segment generally does not offer refunds. On monthly plans, a final prorated bill is issued for the current billing period. On annual plans, there are no refunds after the 14-day free trial ends. Contact support at segment.com/contact/billing for exceptional circumstances.

Can I reactivate my workspace after deleting it?

Only within the 5-day window after requesting deletion. Go to Workspace Settings > General Settings and click 'Revoke Workspace Deletion'. Once the 5-day window passes, the workspace is irrevocably deleted and cannot be recovered.

Does deleting my Segment account cancel my subscription?

No — this is explicitly warned in Segment's documentation. Deleting your user account only removes your login credentials; the workspace and its active subscription continue running and billing. You must separately downgrade or delete the workspace to stop charges.

What happens to my data sent to third-party destinations after I cancel?

Deleting your Segment workspace does not automatically delete data in your connected destinations (e.g. Google Analytics, Salesforce, Mixpanel). You must contact each destination separately to request data deletion. Segment's own data is purged within 30 days of workspace deletion.

How do I cancel if I'm on an Enterprise or CDP plan?

Enterprise and Customer Data Platform (CDP) plans do not have a self-serve cancellation option. You must contact Segment's sales or billing team directly at segment.com/contact/billing to initiate cancellation.

Log in to Segment

Go to app.segment.com and log in with your credentials (or via your Twilio account if that's how you signed up).

Open Settings

Click on 'Settings' in the left sidebar or top navigation of your workspace dashboard.

Navigate to Usage & Billing > Plans

In the Settings menu, click 'Usage & Billing', then select the 'Plans' tab. The URL will be app.segment.com/{workspace-slug}/settings/billing/plans.

Downgrade to Free plan (stops billing)

On the Plans page, select the Free tier and confirm the downgrade. This removes charges while keeping your workspace and data intact. Skip to step 6 if you also want to delete the workspace entirely.

Stop data from flowing (prevents overages)

If you have active sources, cycle your write keys for each source and remove any Segment tracking code from your codebase to prevent further MTU usage and overage charges.

Delete Workspace (optional — full cancellation)

If you want to completely close the account, go to Settings > General Settings, scroll down, and click 'Delete Workspace'. Confirm the prompts. The workspace is scheduled for deletion and will be irrevocably removed after 5 days.

Confirm deletion or revoke within 5 days

After clicking 'Delete Workspace', you have a 5-day window to cancel the request by going to Workspace Settings > General Settings > 'Revoke Workspace Deletion'. After 5 days, deletion is permanent and the workspace cannot be recovered.
