Can I cancel BuzzSumo online without contacting support?

No. BuzzSumo does not offer a self-service cancellation button in the account settings. You must contact the Customer Success team via the in-app chat or by emailing help@buzzsumo.com.

Will I get a refund if I cancel mid-billing period?

No. BuzzSumo fees are non-refundable. If you cancel an annual plan after two months, you will not receive a refund for the remaining 10 months. You retain access until the end of the paid period.

How much notice do I need to give before cancelling?

BuzzSumo requires a 10-day notice period before your renewal date. If you contact them fewer than 10 days before renewal, the cancellation will take effect on the following renewal date.

Can I reactivate my subscription after cancelling?

Yes. You can reactivate by contacting BuzzSumo support or signing up again through the pricing page at buzzsumo.com/pricing.

What happens to my data after I cancel?

You retain access until the end of your billing period. After that, your data is no longer accessible via the platform. For full account and data deletion, email privacy@brandwatch.com (BuzzSumo's parent company).

Can I delete my BuzzSumo account myself?

Only free users with no paid history can self-delete at app.buzzsumo.com/settings/profile. Users with any paid subscription history must email privacy@brandwatch.com to request account deletion due to financial compliance requirements.

Request cancellation

Tell the support agent you want to cancel your subscription. Alternatively, skip the chat and send an email to help@buzzsumo.com with your account email address and cancellation request.

Confirm the 10-day notice period

The agent will inform you that cancellation requests require a 10-day notice period. The cancellation will take effect on the next renewal date after that notice period — not immediately.

Receive cancellation confirmation

Wait for a confirmation email from the BuzzSumo team confirming your cancellation request has been received and when your access will end.
