When does my cancellation take effect?

For policies with daily cancellation (e.g. monthly plans), the cancellation takes effect one day after you complete the process in the app. For policies on an annual cycle, the policy remains active until the end of the current policy period and simply does not renew.

Will I receive a refund after cancelling?

If you cancel within 14 days of first taking out the policy (the cooling-off period), you are entitled to a full refund of the premium. After 14 days, you will receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the current billing period.

Can I cancel on a specific future date?

Yes. If you need cancellation to take effect on a specific future date (for example, when moving or switching provider), contact Getsafe customer support directly: support@hellogetsafe.com (Germany) or help@hellogetsafe.com (UK) and they will arrange it for you.

Can I reactivate my policy after cancelling?

You can take out a new policy at any time through the Getsafe app. However, reactivating a cancelled policy may require a new application and could be subject to updated terms, pricing, or underwriting checks.

How do I cancel if I pay via PayPal?

If your Getsafe payments are processed through PayPal, go to paypal.com → Settings → Payments → 'Manage Automatic Payments' → find 'Getsafe' or 'Getsafe Digital GmbH' and cancel the billing agreement there in addition to cancelling inside the app.

How do I delete my Getsafe account and personal data?

To request deletion of your personal data, contact Getsafe support at support@hellogetsafe.com (DE) or help@hellogetsafe.com (UK) after cancelling all policies. Reference their data protection policy for GDPR rights including the right to erasure.

Open the Getsafe app

Launch the Getsafe app on your iOS or Android device and log in to your account if prompted.

Tap 'Coverage' in the menu bar

In the bottom navigation bar, tap the 'Coverage' tab to see all your active insurance policies.

Select the policy to cancel

Tap on the specific insurance policy (e.g. Liability, Household, Bike) that you want to cancel.

Scroll to the bottom of the policy details

On the policy detail screen, scroll all the way down past the coverage details and documents.

Tap 'Cancel coverage'

At the bottom of the screen, tap the 'Cancel coverage' button to initiate the cancellation.

Confirm the cancellation

Follow any on-screen confirmation prompts to finalise the cancellation. You will receive a confirmation of the cancellation date.
