What happens to my content and data after I cancel?

Your organization moves to the Free plan at the end of your current billing period, so you retain access to your content during that time. If your account is fully terminated, Contentful deletes all customer content within 35 days, including backup data held by their cloud storage provider.

Will I get a refund after canceling?

No. Per Contentful's Terms of Service, all fees are non-refundable and non-pro-ratable for partial months. The only exception is a termination due to a Chronic Service Availability Failure, in which case a pro-rated refund may be granted upon request.

Can I continue using Contentful after canceling a paid plan?

Yes. Canceling downgrades you to the Free plan, which remains usable at no cost. The Free plan supports up to 5 users, 25 content types, 10,000 records, 2 locales, 2 sandbox environments, and 4 roles. It is not intended for commercial use.

When does billing actually stop?

Your recurring billing stops immediately upon confirming cancellation. However, your organization continues on the paid plan until the end of the current billing period, at which point it transitions to the Free plan.

How do I cancel a specific space license rather than the whole subscription?

Go to Organization settings & subscriptions → Subscription tab → find the space in the Space licenses table → click the three-dot menu ('...') on the right → select 'Cancel subscription'.

How do I reactivate a paid plan after canceling?

You can upgrade back to a paid plan at any time from the Subscription page in Organization settings by clicking 'Change plan' and selecting a paid tier. Your content remains accessible on the Free plan in the interim.

Log in to Contentful

Go to app.contentful.com and log in with your credentials.

Open the environment switcher

Click the environment/space switcher icon at the top-left of the interface.

Go to Organization Settings & Subscriptions

Click your organization name in the dropdown, then select 'Organization settings & subscriptions'.

Open the Subscription tab

In the organization settings sidebar, click the 'Subscription' tab to view your current plan.

Click 'Change plan'

On the Subscription page, click the 'Change plan' button to view available plans.

Select the Free plan

Choose the 'Free plan' option from the list of available plans, then click the 'Downgrade' button.

Confirm cancellation

In the confirmation modal that appears, click 'Cancel plan' to finalize the downgrade. A 'Cancellation in progress' banner will appear on your Subscription page, and a confirmation email will be sent to the organization owner.
