Will I lose access to my status page immediately after canceling?

Can I get a refund after canceling?

Instatus has a Fair Refund Policy (instatus.com/policies/refunds). By default there is no automatic prorated refund for unused days, but you can email support@instatus.com for case-by-case refunds — especially for accidental charges or long periods of no usage.

Can I downgrade to a free plan instead of canceling entirely?

Yes. Instatus offers a free Starter plan (15 monitors, 200 subscribers, public status page). Downgrading preserves your account and data while stopping charges for premium features — this is often a better option than full cancellation.

Can I reactivate my account after canceling?

You can reactivate by upgrading to a paid plan again. However, data is permanently deleted from active systems within 30 days and from backups within 60 days, so reactivation after that window will not recover your previous data.

Can I cancel via email or phone?

No. Instatus explicitly states in their Terms of Service that 'an email or phone request to cancel your account is not considered cancellation.' You must cancel through the dashboard self-serve cancellation link.

Open your workspace

From the dashboard, select the team/workspace associated with the paid plan you want to cancel.

Navigate to Billing

Click 'Go to Billing' button within your team settings, or click the Account link in the global navigation bar at the top of the screen.

Find the cancellation link

On the Billing page (https://dashboard.instatus.com/[workspace]/[subdomain]/billing), locate the plan cancellation or 'Downgrade to Free' option. Instatus describes this as a 'simple no-questions-asked cancellation link'.

Confirm cancellation

Click the cancellation link and confirm your decision. No survey or retention flow is expected — cancellation takes effect immediately.
