Will I lose access to paid content immediately after cancelling?

No. Your paid subscriber access continues until the end of the current billing period (monthly or annual). After that you become a free subscriber and can still read any free posts from that newsletter.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

Substack does not process refunds directly — subscription revenue goes to the individual writer. To request a refund, contact the newsletter author directly. For Substack+ platform subscriptions, contact support@substack.com.

How do I cancel if I subscribed through the iOS app?

If you subscribed via the Substack iOS app, you must cancel through Apple: go to iPhone Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → find the Substack newsletter → Cancel Subscription.

How do I cancel if I subscribed through the Android app?

If you subscribed via Google Play, cancel through Google: open the Play Store → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → find the newsletter → Cancel.

Can I reactivate my paid subscription after cancelling?

Yes. You can resubscribe to any newsletter at any time by visiting the publication's page and selecting a paid plan. Your previous reading history is retained.

Does cancelling one newsletter cancel all my Substack subscriptions?

No. Each paid newsletter subscription on Substack is independent. You must cancel each one separately from the Subscriptions settings page.

Sign in to Substack

Go to substack.com and sign in with your email and password.

Open Account Settings

Click your profile picture in the top-right corner of the page, then select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to Subscriptions

In the left sidebar of the Settings page, click "Subscriptions" to see a list of all your active paid newsletter subscriptions. You can also go directly to substack.com/settings/subscriptions.

Select the newsletter to cancel

Find the specific paid newsletter you want to cancel. Note: Substack has no single "Pro" platform plan — each newsletter is a separate subscription that must be cancelled individually.

Click 'Cancel subscription'

Click the "Cancel subscription" link or button next to the newsletter. You may also see an "Unsubscribe" option depending on your view.

Skip the pause offer (if shown)

Substack may offer a "Pause Subscription" option, letting you pause charges for 1–3 months instead of cancelling. Select "Cancel anyway" or skip this step to proceed with full cancellation.

Confirm cancellation

Confirm your cancellation when prompted. You will receive a confirmation email from Substack. Your paid access continues until the end of the current billing period, after which you revert to a free subscriber.
