Can I access my content after cancelling or deleting my project?

No. Deleting a project in Hygraph is permanent and cannot be undone. You must export all content via the API before deletion. If you downgrade to the free Community plan instead, your content remains accessible as long as you stay within free-tier limits.

Will I get a refund when I cancel?

No. Hygraph's Terms of Service state that you will not receive any refunds if you cancel your account. Any refunds are at Hygraph's sole discretion and, if given, are only in the form of service credits, not cash.

Can I reactivate or restore a deleted project?

No. Project deletion is permanent and irreversible. There is no recovery option. If you only downgraded to the free plan, you can upgrade again at any time from Project Settings > General > Billing > Manage plan.

What happens to my data after I delete my project?

All content and application data is permanently deleted. You are solely responsible for exporting your content before termination. Hygraph recommends using their Backup & Recovery guide and pulling data via the Content API in JSON format before proceeding.

Can I downgrade instead of fully cancelling?

Yes. If your project usage is within the free Community plan limits (e.g., entry count, API call volume), you can downgrade to the free tier via Project Settings > General > Billing > Manage plan. This stops billing without losing your project or data.

What if I was billed on an annual plan — do I lose the remaining months?

Yes. Hygraph does not issue refunds for unused portions of annual subscriptions. Outstanding balances become immediately due on termination. If you are on an annual plan, consider timing your cancellation near the renewal date to avoid losing prepaid value.

Export your data

Before cancelling, export all your content via the Hygraph API in JSON format. Go to your project dashboard and use the Content API to fetch and save your data locally. Deleting a project is permanent and cannot be undone.

Log in and open Project Settings

Log in at app.hygraph.com. In your project dashboard, click the gear icon or navigate to 'Project settings' in the left-hand sidebar.

Navigate to Billing

In Project Settings, click 'General', then select the 'Billing' section. This shows your current subscription, invoices, and stored billing information.

Click 'Manage plan' to downgrade

Click the 'Manage plan' button at the top-right of the Billing screen. This shows all available plans side by side. If your project usage is within the free tier limits, select the 'Community' (free) plan to stop being charged. If your usage exceeds free plan limits, you must reduce usage first or delete the project entirely.

(Optional) Delete the project entirely

To fully remove the project, go to Project Settings > General > Project. Scroll to the danger zone and click the 'Delete project' button.

Complete the exit survey

Hygraph displays an exit survey asking why you are deleting the project. Fill in the required fields and submit the survey to proceed.

Confirm deletion

Type your exact project name into the confirmation field, then click 'Delete' to permanently and irreversibly delete the project and all its content.
