When does my access end after cancelling?

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain full access to all paid features until that date — monthly plans until the end of the billing month, yearly plans until the end of the billing year.

Will I get a refund if I cancel mid-cycle?

No. Linear explicitly states they do not provide refunds for mid-subscription cancellations. If you are unsure about a long-term commitment, Linear recommends starting with a monthly plan before upgrading to yearly.

Will my data be deleted when I cancel?

No data is deleted when you downgrade. All issues, projects, cycles, and settings are preserved on the Free plan. However, if your workspace has more than 250 issues, you will lose the ability to create new issues until you upgrade again.

What happens to team members when I downgrade?

On the Free plan, all users are Admins. When you downgrade, existing Members are automatically promoted to Admin role within the workspace.

Can I reactivate my subscription after cancelling?

Yes. You can reactivate at any time by going back to Settings > Plans and selecting a paid plan. Your existing data and workspace structure will still be there.

Can I cancel via email instead of the website?

Yes. Linear's Terms of Service state you may notify them at billing@linear.app to cancel, provided that Linear confirms the cancellation in writing. The self-serve method via Settings is faster.

Log in to Linear

Go to linear.app and sign in to your workspace. You must be a workspace Admin to cancel — regular members cannot manage billing.

Open workspace Settings

Click your workspace name in the top-left corner of the sidebar to open the workspace menu, then select 'Settings'.

Navigate to Plans

In the Settings sidebar, click 'Plans' under the Workspace section (path: Settings > Workspace > Plans).

Initiate cancellation

On the Plans page, locate your current plan and click 'Cancel subscription' or 'Downgrade to Free'. This will begin the cancellation flow.

Confirm cancellation

Review the cancellation confirmation dialog which explains what features you will lose. Click 'Cancel subscription' (or 'Confirm') to finalize. No retention offer or upsell flow has been reported — the process is straightforward.
