Will I get a refund if I cancel an annual Census/Fivetran plan early?

No. The Master Subscription Agreement explicitly states all fees are non-cancelable and non-refundable. You can prevent auto-renewal before your contract end date by contacting activation-support@fivetran.com, but you will not receive a prorated refund for unused time.

What happens to my data after I cancel?

Your connections, datasets, and sync configurations remain intact after downgrading to the Free plan. Syncs above the free tier limits are paused rather than deleted. You should export any critical data before your plan expires, as access becomes restricted on the free tier.

Can I reactivate my paid plan after cancelling?

Yes. The Free plan keeps your account active indefinitely. You can upgrade back to a paid plan at any time by going to Billing & Usage in your Fivetran account and selecting a new subscription tier. Enterprise plan customers will need to re-engage through the Fivetran sales team.

Where is the old Census app — I can't log in at app.getcensus.com?

The standalone Census app was shut down in early 2026 following Fivetran's acquisition. All accounts have been migrated to Fivetran Activations. Log in at fivetran.com using your existing Census credentials. If you did not migrate before April 1, 2026, contact activation-support@fivetran.com to recover your account.

Is the Free plan a genuine option or does it expire?

The Free plan is genuinely free forever. It includes 1 billable destination, 2 active syncs, 5 user seats, 1 workspace, and 8 million records per month. It is a real downgrade path rather than a time-limited trial, making it a viable alternative to full cancellation for teams with modest usage.

I purchased Census through AWS or GCP Marketplace — how do I cancel?

Marketplace purchases must be cancelled through the respective marketplace portal. For AWS, go to AWS Marketplace → Manage subscriptions and cancel the Census/Fivetran Activations subscription. For GCP, use the Google Cloud Console → Marketplace → My Orders. The subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.

As of 2025, Census was acquired by Fivetran. The legacy app.getcensus.com is no longer accessible. All accounts have been migrated to Fivetran Activations. Log in at fivetran.com using your Census credentials.

Open Account Settings

Once logged in to fivetran.com, click your account name or avatar in the top-right corner and select 'Account Settings' from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to Billing & Usage

In the left sidebar of Account Settings, click 'Billing & Usage'. This section shows your current plan, next renewal date, and subscription controls.

Reduce user seats if needed

If your account has more than 10 users, you must manually reduce the user count before you can downgrade to the Free plan. Go to 'Users' and remove team members until you are within the Free tier limit (5 seats).

Select the Free plan or Cancel Subscription

In the Subscription section, click 'Cancel Subscription' or select the 'Free' plan (0 cost, 3,500 activation MAR/month, 1 billable destination, 2 active syncs). This is the self-service path for monthly PAYG subscribers.

Complete the 3-step confirmation

Fivetran shows a multi-step confirmation dialog listing features you will lose. Acknowledge each screen and confirm the downgrade. Syncs will be paused or limited to free tier quotas immediately.

Annual plan holders: contact support

If you are on an annual Professional or Enterprise contract, self-service cancellation is not available. Email activation-support@fivetran.com or submit a ticket at support.fivetran.com to request non-renewal before your contract end date. Annual fees are non-refundable per the MSA.
