Will I lose access to games immediately after cancelling?

No. Your Xbox Game Pass (and Xbox Cloud Gaming) access continues until the end of your current paid billing period. Microsoft does not cut off access on the day you cancel.

What happens to my saved game data and achievements?

All saved games, cloud saves, and achievements remain tied to your Microsoft account permanently. You will not lose progress, even if you cancel and re-subscribe later.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

Refunds are not guaranteed for standard monthly billing. Microsoft may grant a refund if you cancel very shortly after being charged and have had minimal usage. Contact Microsoft Support directly or check your country's consumer protection laws, as some regions (e.g. EU countries) may entitle you to a prorated refund.

Can I reactivate my subscription later?

Yes. You can re-subscribe at any time by returning to account.microsoft.com/services or the Xbox app. Your previous save data and game library access will be restored upon reactivation.

Can I cancel directly on my Xbox console?

Yes. Press the Xbox button → navigate to Profile & system → Settings → Account → Subscriptions → select Xbox Game Pass → Cancel subscription. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm.

Does cancelling Xbox Game Pass also cancel Xbox Cloud Gaming?

Yes. Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) is included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Cancelling the Ultimate subscription removes cloud gaming access along with all other Game Pass benefits at the end of the billing cycle.

Open a browser and navigate to account.microsoft.com/services. This is the central hub for all your Microsoft subscriptions.

Sign in to your Microsoft account

Click 'Sign in' and enter the Microsoft account email and password associated with your Xbox/Game Pass subscription. Complete any two-step verification prompt if enabled.

Locate your Xbox Game Pass subscription

On the Services & subscriptions page, scroll through the list to find your Xbox Game Pass entry (may appear as 'Xbox Game Pass Ultimate', 'Xbox Game Pass Standard', or 'Xbox Game Pass Core').

Click 'Manage'

Click the 'Manage' link on the right side of your Xbox Game Pass subscription row. This opens the subscription management screen.

Click 'Cancel subscription'

On the subscription detail page, click the 'Cancel subscription' button. Microsoft may present a retention pop-up offering a discounted rate or a tier downgrade — click through or dismiss it to continue with full cancellation.

Select a cancellation reason

Choose a reason from the dropdown list (e.g. 'Too expensive', 'Don't use it enough'). This step is required before proceeding.

Confirm cancellation

Click 'Confirm cancellation' on the final confirmation screen. You will receive a confirmation email from Microsoft. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
