Will I lose access to paid features immediately after canceling?

No. You retain access to all paid plan features until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account automatically downgrades to the Free plan (1,000 scans/month, 3 members, 1 repo label).

Can I get a refund when I cancel?

Socket does not offer refunds on cancellation for direct subscriptions. If you subscribed via GitHub Marketplace, purchases are explicitly non-refundable. Pro-rata credits only apply when switching between paid plans mid-cycle, not on cancellation.

What happens to my data after I cancel?

Your data is retained on the Free tier — nothing is deleted automatically. Socket does not store your source code, only manifest and lockfile data. To request full data deletion, email support@socket.dev with your organization name and account email.

How do I cancel if I subscribed through GitHub Marketplace?

Cancellation must be done within GitHub, not on socket.dev. Go to GitHub Settings > Billing and licensing > GitHub Marketplace > Socket Security > Edit > 'Cancel plan'. For organizations, navigate through your org's Settings instead of your personal Settings.

Can I reactivate my subscription after canceling?

Yes. You can resubscribe at any time by returning to Organization Settings > Subscription and choosing a paid plan. Your previous configuration and data will still be available since the account downgrades to Free rather than being deleted.

Who is allowed to cancel the Socket subscription?

Only users with the Owner role in the Socket organization have access to billing settings. If you don't see the Subscription option in Organization Settings, you are likely an Admin or Member and need to ask an Owner to make changes.

Log in to Socket dashboard

Go to https://app.socket.dev and sign in. You must be signed in as an Owner of the organization — only Owners have billing access. Admins and Members cannot cancel subscriptions.

Open Organization Settings

Click on your organization name or avatar in the top navigation, then select 'Organization Settings' from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to Subscription

In the Organization Settings sidebar, click 'Subscription' to view your current plan details and billing information.

Open the Billing Portal

Click the 'Billing Portal' button. This opens a Stripe-hosted billing management page in a new tab.

Cancel your plan

In the Stripe billing portal, locate your active subscription and click 'Cancel plan' or 'Cancel subscription'.

Confirm cancellation

Confirm the cancellation when prompted. Your access to paid features will continue until the end of your current billing period, then your account automatically downgrades to the Free plan.
