No. Upon cancellation your phone number is permanently released and cannot be recovered. If you want to keep your number and move to another carrier, use the MNP (Mobile Number Portability) option ('povoから転出する') instead of a straight cancellation.

Will I get a refund for unused data toppings?

No. Unused data from purchased toppings (e.g. a 20GB topping) is forfeited with no refund or proration. To minimize loss, use up your remaining data before submitting the cancellation request.

Can I reactivate my povo2.0 account after cancellation?

You can sign up for a new povo2.0 account, but you cannot recover the same phone number or account data. All account data and invoices are deleted after a certain period following cancellation.

Can I cancel povo2.0 by phone or at a store?

No. povo2.0 has no telephone support line and no physical stores. Cancellation must be done entirely online through the official website (povo.jp/support/cancellation/) or the povo2.0 app.

What happens to carrier-billed apps and subscriptions?

Apps and content billed through povo (carrier billing) are NOT automatically canceled when you cancel your povo line. You must manually cancel each subscription before or after canceling povo to avoid continued charges to your registered credit card.

Download any invoices first

Before starting, open the povo2.0 app and download any invoices you may need. After cancellation your account is deleted and you permanently lose access to billing records.

Navigate to the cancellation page

Go to https://povo.jp/support/cancellation/ in a browser, or open the povo2.0 app, tap the person icon (人型マーク) in the top-left, then tap '契約管理' (Contract Management). Scroll to the bottom and tap '解約・他社へのMNP' (Cancellation / MNP to another carrier).

Select 'Cancel povo2.0'

On the cancellation screen, scroll down and tap 'povo2.0を解約する場合' (For povo2.0 cancellation). If you want to keep your phone number and switch carriers instead, tap 'povoから転出する' (Transfer out from povo) for an MNP reservation number.

Authenticate via email

Enter your registered email address and tap '次へ' (Next). A one-time authentication code will be sent to that email. Enter the code and tap '次へ' again to log in.

Tap 'Cancel number'

Once logged in, tap '番号を解約' (Cancel number). You will see a summary of important notices about unused toppings and data not being refunded — read and acknowledge these.

Confirm with birth date and submit

Enter your date of birth for identity verification, then tap '解約する' (Cancel) to submit the cancellation request. An SMS one-time password may also be required for final confirmation.

Cancellation processed

Cancellation is processed the same day. If submitted between 20:00–09:30, it processes after 09:30 the following morning. Service (data, calls, SMS) stops immediately upon processing. Destroy your SIM card yourself — return is not required.
