How long do I keep access after cancelling?

You retain access to all paid features until the end of your current billing cycle. After that, your account is downgraded to the Free plan automatically.

Will I get a refund if I cancel mid-cycle?

No. Thinkific does not issue pro-rated refunds for unused time in a billing cycle. Your payment covers the full period regardless of when you cancel.

What happens to my courses and student data?

Your account moves to the Free plan and your data (courses, students, content) is retained. Students who have already purchased products retain access to them. You can upgrade again later and pick up exactly where you left off.

What happens to my students' recurring subscription payments?

They are NOT automatically cancelled when you cancel your own plan. You must manually cancel each student's recurring payment before cancelling your subscription, otherwise students will continue to be charged but lose access to your products.

Can I reactivate my Thinkific subscription later?

Yes. You can upgrade from the Free plan to a paid plan at any time. All your previous settings, courses, and data will be intact.

What happens to my custom domain when I cancel?

Custom domains are a paid feature. If you cancel without removing your custom domain first, it will become inaccessible. Remove it from Settings > Domains before cancelling and switch back to your default Thinkific subdomain.

Cancel student recurring payments

Before cancelling, go to your Admin Dashboard and manually cancel any active student subscription or payment plan payments. Navigate to your course or product, find each student with an active subscription, click the three-dot menu next to their name, and select 'Cancel Subscription' or 'Cancel Payment Plan'. If you skip this, students will continue to be charged after your account downgrades.

Remove your custom domain

If you have a custom domain set as your Primary domain, remove it first. Go to Settings > Domains in your Admin Dashboard and switch your Primary domain back to the default Thinkific subdomain. Custom domains are a paid feature and will become inaccessible after cancellation.

Open Account Management

Log in to your Thinkific Admin Dashboard at admin.thinkific.com. Click on your account name or profile icon, then select 'Account' from the dropdown menu, followed by 'Account Management'.

Click Manage Subscription

On the Account Management page, locate your current plan details and click the 'Manage Subscription' button.

Select Cancel Plan

On the subscription management page, click 'Cancel Plan'. Thinkific may display a summary of the paid features you will lose upon cancellation as a retention tactic.

Complete confirmation popups

A series of confirmation dialogs will appear asking you to confirm the cancellation. Read through each prompt and confirm your intent to cancel. Your subscription will be cancelled and your account will be downgraded to the Free plan at the end of your current billing cycle.
