Is Playwright itself a paid service?

No. Playwright (playwright.dev) is a free, open-source end-to-end testing framework by Microsoft. There is no subscription for using Playwright itself. The paid offering is 'Microsoft Playwright Testing' (now also called Playwright Workspaces), a cloud service on Azure that allows running tests at scale with higher parallelization.

What happens to my test data after I delete the workspace?

Deleting a workspace is irreversible. The workspace and its entire activity log cannot be recovered after deletion. Export any test results or reports you need before proceeding.

Will I be charged after deleting the workspace?

No. Microsoft Playwright Testing is pay-per-use (billed per test minute and test result). Deleting the workspace stops all future billing. You will only be charged for usage up to the point of deletion.

Can I use the free trial again after deleting my workspace?

No. If you delete a free-trial workspace, you cannot create a new free trial workspace on that Azure subscription. The free trial (100 test minutes, 1,000 test results, 30 days) is a one-time offer per subscription.

Can I reactivate a deleted workspace?

No. Workspace deletion is permanent and irreversible. To use Microsoft Playwright Testing again you would need to create a brand-new workspace, which would be billed at standard pay-per-use rates with no free trial.

Is there a way to pause usage without deleting the workspace?

Since Microsoft Playwright Testing is pay-per-use with no monthly subscription fee, you are only charged when tests actually run. Simply stopping test runs means you incur no charges, so there is no need to delete the workspace unless you want to remove it entirely.

Sign in to Azure Portal

Go to portal.azure.com and sign in with the Microsoft account linked to your Playwright Testing workspace. Note: playwright.dev itself is a free open-source framework — the paid cloud service is 'Microsoft Playwright Testing', a pay-per-use Azure service.

Navigate to Microsoft Playwright Testing

In the Azure portal search bar at the top, type 'Microsoft Playwright Testing' and select it from the results, or browse to it under 'All resources'.

Open the Workspaces list

On the Microsoft Playwright Testing overview page, select 'Manage all workspaces' from the workspace selector at the top of the screen to see all workspaces you have access to.

Select the workspace to delete

Find the workspace you want to cancel. Click the ellipsis icon (...) next to the workspace name to open the context menu.

Click 'Delete workspace'

From the context menu, select 'Delete workspace'. A confirmation page will appear warning that this action is irreversible and the workspace and its activity log cannot be recovered.

Confirm deletion

On the 'Delete Workspace' confirmation page, click the 'Delete' button to permanently delete the workspace. Billing stops immediately once the workspace is deleted.
