Thomson Reuters officially shut down Casetext on April 1, 2025, less than two years after acquiring it for $650 million. The platform is no longer accessible. If you are still being billed or need a refund, proceed to contact Thomson Reuters support.
Gather your account details
Locate your original Casetext subscription confirmation email. Note your registered email address, subscription start date, and any billing receipts. These will be required when contacting support.
Contact Casetext/Thomson Reuters support by email
Email support@casetext.com with the subject line 'Subscription Cancellation & Refund Request'. Include your full name, registered email, subscription start date, and a clear request to cancel and issue a refund for any charges after the service shutdown (April 1, 2025).
Call Thomson Reuters support if needed
If email does not receive a response within 2–3 business days, call Casetext/Thomson Reuters support at 408-389-4154. State that you are requesting cancellation confirmation and a refund for post-shutdown billing. Reference the April 1, 2025 shutdown date.
Dispute charges via your bank if unresolved
If Thomson Reuters does not resolve your cancellation or refund within a reasonable timeframe, contact your credit card provider or bank to dispute any charges that occurred after the service was shut down on April 1, 2025. Provide the shutdown date as evidence.
File a BBB complaint as escalation
If all other methods fail, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against Casetext (listed under San Francisco, CA). Historical complaints show that BBB escalation has resulted in full refunds for affected subscribers. Reference case numbers from similar resolved complaints if possible.
