Can I cancel my A1 contract online or by phone?

No — A1 Bulgaria requires an in-person written notice submitted at an A1 office. The only alternative is submitting a termination notice by email (telesales@a1.bg) signed with a Qualified Electronic Signature (КЕП/QES). There is no self-service online cancellation option.

Will I be charged an early termination fee?

If you cancel before your contract end date, you may be charged up to 3 standard monthly subscription fees (without discounts), plus partial recovery of any device subsidy received (capped at 18 months). If you submit notice 30 days before the contract expiry date or after it has already expired, no penalty applies.

How long does my service remain active after I submit the termination notice?

Your service stays active for 30 calendar days after you submit the termination notice (or until your contract end date if you submit exactly 30 days before). You continue to be billed for those 30 days of service.

What happens to my phone number when I cancel?

You can port (прехвърли) your mobile number to another Bulgarian operator before canceling — this process also terminates your A1 contract. If you cancel without porting, your number is released and will eventually be reassigned to another user after a grace period.

Can I reactivate my A1 subscription after canceling?

Yes, you can sign a new contract with A1 at any time after cancellation. However, you will be treated as a new customer and will not be able to recover your old contract terms or phone number (unless you ported it elsewhere and then ported it back).

Is there a cooling-off period if I just signed up?

Yes — if you signed your contract remotely (by phone or online via telesales), you have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel without penalties. Submit the cancellation form by email to telesales@a1.bg. You will be charged only for services used during those days, the activation fee, and proportional monthly charges. Devices must be returned.

Check your contract status

Log in to 'My A1' (Моят А1) at a1.bg or via the My A1 mobile app. Navigate to 'Договори' (Contracts) to find your contract end date and review any applicable early termination fees before proceeding.

Locate an A1 store

Use the store locator at https://www.a1.bg/offices to find the nearest A1 office. Cancellation requires an in-person visit — it cannot be completed fully online or by phone.

Visit A1 office with required documents

Go to the A1 office in person. Bring your national ID card (лична карта) and your account/contract number. If you are an authorized representative (пълномощник), bring a notarized power of attorney (нотариално заверено пълномощно).

Request termination form

Tell the A1 staff member you want to submit a 'заявление за прекратяване на договор' (contract termination request). They will provide an A1 template form. You may also bring your own written termination notice. Submit at least 30 calendar days before your contract expiry to avoid early termination penalties.

Complete and sign the termination form

Fill in your personal details, account number, and desired termination date. Sign the form. The staff will review your contract and inform you of any applicable fees (up to 3 monthly subscription fees for early termination, plus partial recovery of device subsidies if a phone was included in the plan).

Return rented equipment (if applicable)

If your plan included a rented device (modem, router, set-top box/приемник), return it at the store at the time of notice submission or within 30 days. Keep the return receipt (разписка за предаване). Failure to return equipment incurs additional penalties per device.

Receive written confirmation

Request and keep a stamped copy of your submitted termination notice as proof. Your service will remain active until the termination date (30 days after notice, or your contract end date). Any outstanding early termination fee is billed 30 days after notice submission.
