Will I lose access immediately after downgrading?

No. For monthly plans, your paid features remain active until the end of the current billing cycle. After that, the account moves to the free Personal plan limits (up to 3 users, 100 devices).

Can I get a refund when I cancel?

Tailscale's Terms of Service state that payments are non-cancelable, non-transferable, and non-refundable. The only exception is if you terminate for cause (a material breach by Tailscale), in which case you are entitled to a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of a prepaid annual term.

How do I reactivate a paid plan after canceling?

You can upgrade again at any time from the Billing page in the admin console at https://login.tailscale.com/admin/settings/billing. Select 'Switch plan' and choose the desired paid tier.

What happens to my devices and network configuration after canceling?

Downgrading only moves you to the free tier — it does not delete your account. To fully delete your tailnet and cancel any active subscription immediately, go to Settings > General in the admin console and use the 'Delete tailnet' option. This is irreversible and immediately cancels all subscriptions.

What if I subscribed through AWS or Azure Marketplace?

If your Tailscale subscription was purchased via AWS Marketplace or Azure Marketplace, you must cancel it through that marketplace's subscription management interface, not through the Tailscale admin console.

Sign in to Tailscale admin console

Go to https://login.tailscale.com/admin and sign in with your account credentials. You must be the Owner, Admin, or Billing admin of the tailnet to make billing changes.

Open the Billing settings page

In the left sidebar, click 'Settings', then select 'Billing'. You can also navigate directly to https://login.tailscale.com/admin/settings/billing.

Click 'Switch plan'

On the Billing page, locate your current active plan. Click the 'Switch plan' button to view available plan options including the free Personal plan.

Select the free Personal plan and click 'Downgrade'

Find the Personal (free) plan in the plan selection screen and click 'Downgrade'. Note: to downgrade to the free Personal plan, your tailnet must have no more than 3 users. If you have more, you must remove users first via Settings > Users before proceeding.

Confirm the downgrade

Review the confirmation dialog summarizing the plan change. Confirm the downgrade. Your paid subscription will be canceled at the end of the current billing cycle and you will move to the free tier.

Annual plan holders: contact Tailscale sales

If you are on an annual subscription plan, self-service downgrade is not available. Contact Tailscale via https://tailscale.com/contact/sales or email sales@tailscale.com to request cancellation. Be aware that annual payments are generally non-refundable per their Terms of Service.
