Will I lose access to my data immediately after canceling?

No. Your paid plan remains active until the end of the current billing cycle. After that, the workspace reverts to the Free plan (max 12 seats). Data is not deleted unless you explicitly delete the workspace.

Can I get a refund when I cancel?

Plane does not offer refunds for partial billing periods. In exceptional circumstances you can email hello@plane.so, but refunds are not standard policy. Plane sends advance email notifications before each charge.

What happens if my workspace has more than 12 members after canceling?

If you exceed 12 members when the subscription ends, the workspace enters a locked state. Only the Members page remains accessible. To unlock it, you must either remove members to get below 12 seats or reactivate a paid subscription.

Can I reactivate my subscription after canceling?

Yes. Go to Workspace Settings > Billing and plans at any time and resubscribe. Your data remains intact as long as you have not deleted the workspace.

How do I export my data before canceling?

Go to each project's Settings > Export. You can download all issues, cycles, modules, and pages in CSV, Excel, or JSON format. Do this before canceling since Plane has no automatic backups.

What if I just want to downgrade instead of canceling?

In the Stripe customer portal (reached via Workspace Settings > Billing and plans > Manage Subscription), click 'Update subscription', select a lower plan, and confirm. The downgrade takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

Export your data

Before canceling, export your project data by going to each project's Settings > Export. Choose CSV, Excel, or JSON format. Plane does not provide automatic backups, and if your workspace gets locked after downgrading, access may be restricted.

Open Workspace Settings

Log in to app.plane.so and click the workspace name or gear icon in the top-left corner. Select 'Settings' from the dropdown to open Workspace Settings.

Go to Billing and plans

In the left sidebar of Workspace Settings, click 'Billing and plans' to view your current subscription details.

Click 'Manage Subscription'

Click the 'Manage Subscription' button on the Billing and plans page. This opens the Stripe customer portal in a new tab.

Cancel subscription in Stripe portal

In the Stripe customer portal, click 'Cancel subscription'. Stripe may ask you to select a reason for canceling — choose the most relevant option and proceed.

Confirm cancellation

Click 'Cancel subscription' again on the confirmation screen. You will receive an email confirmation. Your paid plan remains active until the end of the current billing cycle.

Remove excess members if needed

If your workspace has more than 12 members, go to Workspace Settings > Members and remove members down to 12 before the billing cycle ends. Otherwise the workspace enters a locked state where only the Members page is accessible.
