Will I lose access to RuneScape immediately after cancelling?

No. Your membership benefits remain active until the end of your current paid billing period. After that date your account reverts to free-to-play status and you lose access to members-only content, areas, and skills above the free-to-play cap.

Can I get a refund after cancelling?

Jagex reviews refund requests for purchases made directly through Jagex within the last 6 months on a case-by-case basis. If any portion of the membership has been used, a full refund is generally not offered. In certain regions (e.g. the EU/UK) you may have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period for a new subscription if it hasn't been used. Contact Jagex Support at support.runescape.com to submit a refund request.

How do I reactivate my membership after cancelling?

Log in to your RuneScape account and purchase a new membership via the RuneScape website or the in-game Members Loyalty Programme. Your characters and progress are preserved — you simply regain access to members content. Note: if you held a grandfathered lower rate and cancelled on or after April 9, 2026, that rate will not be restored.

What if I subscribed through Google Play or the App Store?

If you subscribed via the RuneScape mobile app on Android, cancel through Google Play Store → Subscriptions. If via iOS, cancel through the App Store → Subscriptions in your Apple ID settings. Jagex's billing portal cannot cancel third-party platform subscriptions.

Will my game data and characters be deleted if I cancel?

No. Jagex retains your account data and characters indefinitely. Free-to-play characters are not deleted due to inactivity under normal circumstances. You can log back in at any time to a free-to-play account, and resubscribe to regain full member access.

What happens if I cancel just before my renewal date?

If you cancel fewer than 3 days before your scheduled renewal date, Jagex may still charge you for the next billing cycle. If this happens, contact Jagex Support promptly to request a refund for the unintended charge.

Log in to your RuneScape account

Go to https://www.runescape.com and click 'Log In' in the top-right corner. Enter your Jagex account credentials (email and password).

Go to the subscription management page

Navigate directly to https://secure.runescape.com/m=billing_core/unsubscribe.ws — this is the Jagex billing portal for managing or cancelling subscriptions. Alternatively, from the RuneScape website sidebar, go to the 'Membership' section and select 'Cancel an existing subscription'.

Select your subscription to cancel

On the billing page, your active subscription(s) will be listed. Select the RuneScape Membership (or Old School RuneScape Membership) you wish to cancel. If you subscribed via Google Play or the App Store, you must cancel through that platform instead.

Choose a cancellation reason

A cancellation page will appear asking you to select a reason for cancelling from a dropdown list (e.g. 'Too expensive', 'Not playing enough', 'Technical issues'). Select the reason that applies.

Review the cancellation confirmation page

Jagex presents a confirmation screen summarising what you'll lose (member benefits, access to members-only content). The page also offers a final option to 'Keep my membership'. If you want to proceed, do not click that button.

Click 'Confirm Cancellation'

Click the 'Confirm Cancellation' button to finalise. You will see an on-screen confirmation that auto-renewal has been disabled. Your membership benefits continue until the end of the current billing period.

Check email for confirmation

Jagex sends a cancellation confirmation email to the address on your account. Keep this as proof that auto-renewal was cancelled successfully.
