Can I close a joint account or mandate account online?

No. You can only close accounts you personally own via the app or eBanking. Joint accounts and mandate accounts require contacting Danske Bank directly.

Can I cancel just a subscription payment without closing my account?

Yes. In the app go to Transfer → Direct Debits (under Payment agreements), select the agreement, tap 'Delete agreement', and enter your 4-digit passcode. Cancel before 5 pm on the business day before the next payment is due.

Is there a fee for closing my Danske Bank account?

Danske Bank does not publicly advertise a fee for closing a standard personal account. Check your account terms or contact the bank to confirm no early-closure charges apply to your specific product.

What if I am a customer in Ireland?

Irish customers cannot close their account online. You must download the account closure form, complete it with all account holders' signatures, attach proof of identity and proof of address, and send it by email to accountclosures@danskebank.ie or by mail to Danske Bank, Account Closures, PO Box 3345, Dublin 1.

Can I reopen my Danske Bank account after closing it?

Danske Bank does not document a reactivation process for closed accounts. You would need to contact the bank directly to enquire about reopening or applying for a new account.

Log in to Danske Mobile Banking or eBanking

Open the Danske Mobile Banking app or go to danskebank.com and log in with your credentials.

Navigate to Accounts

In the app, tap 'Accounts' from the top menu. In eBanking, select 'Accounts' from the top navigation bar.

Select the account to close

Tap or click the specific account you want to close. Note: you can only close accounts you personally own — joint accounts and mandate accounts cannot be closed this way.

Open the close account option

In the app: tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner, then select 'Close account'. In eBanking: open the 'Terms' tab, then click 'Close account' at the bottom of the page.

Handle linked payment agreements

Choose what to do with any standing orders, direct debits (Betalingsservice), and NemKonto linked to the account — either transfer them to another account or delete them.

Confirm closure

In the app: enter your service code to confirm. In eBanking: confirm your closure request when prompted. The process takes less than 60 seconds.
