1 month. Since December 2021, German law reduced the notice period to 1 month once your minimum contract term (typically 24 months) has expired. If your 24-month term is still running, you cannot cancel ordinarily — only a Sonderkündigungsrecht (special termination right) such as a price increase or permanent move abroad applies.

Can I still use my number and service after I cancel?

Yes — your SIM and number remain active until the official contract end date (end of the 1-month notice period). You are billed normally through that date.

No. You are liable for all charges through the end of the notice period. If you cancel mid-billing cycle, you still owe the full month. No prorated refunds are issued for postpaid contracts.

Can I keep my phone number when I switch providers?

Yes. Request 'Rufnummernmitnahme' (number portability) through your new provider — do not contact Vodafone separately. Your new provider handles the port and Vodafone is legally required to release the number. Porting automatically terminates the Vodafone contract.

Can I reactivate my contract after cancellation?

No — cancellation is final. You would need to sign a new contract, which may come with a new minimum term and current pricing. Vodafone does not offer a free 'undo' window after the cancellation is confirmed.

Navigate to https://www.vodafone.de/einfache-kuendigung.html — the legally mandated 'Kündigungsbutton' page. Alternatively, scroll to the footer of vodafone.de and click 'Vertrag kündigen', then select 'Mobilfunk'. Ignore the prominent prompt to call instead ('Am einfachsten und schnellsten geht das per Telefon').

Enter your personal details

Fill in your first and last name, full postal address (street, house number, postcode, city), and email address exactly as they appear on your contract.

Enter your contract details

Enter your Kundennummer (customer number, found on your monthly bill) and either your Vertragsnummer (contract number) or the mobile phone number tied to the contract.

Set the cancellation date

In the 'Kündigungsdatum' field, enter your desired end date or leave it blank to cancel at the earliest legally possible date (1 month's notice after your minimum contract term ends).

Complete the CAPTCHA and submit

Solve the CAPTCHA verification, then click the 'Jetzt kündigen' button to submit your cancellation request.
