Gather your account information

Before calling, have ready your TELUS account number (found on your bill or in My TELUS), the name on the account, your billing address, and your desired cancellation date. Also note any rented equipment you have (modem, router, Optik TV boxes) as you will need to return them.

Call TELUS Home Services at 1-888-811-2323

Dial 1-888-811-2323 (TELUS Home Services line). When prompted by the automated system, say 'Cancel service' or select the billing/account changes option. Online cancellation via My TELUS is not available for internet — this must be done by phone.

Verify your identity

The agent will ask you to verify your identity using your account number, PIN, or billing address. Have your account details ready to speed up this step.

State your intent to cancel and set a cancellation date

Clearly tell the agent you want to cancel your internet service and provide the effective cancellation date. Be firm — agents are trained to offer retention deals such as discounted rates, service credits, or plan downgrades. Decline if you wish to proceed with cancellation.

Review early termination fees (if on a contract)

Ask the agent to confirm any Early Termination Fee (ETF) that applies if you are mid-contract. TELUS calculates ETFs based on remaining months in the term. If you're moving to an area TELUS doesn't serve, you may be able to waive this fee — ask explicitly.

Request written confirmation

Ask the agent to send a cancellation confirmation email to the address on file. Note the agent's name, the confirmation or reference number, and the exact cancellation date they set. This protects you against billing disputes.

Return rented equipment within 28 days

Within 1–3 business days after cancellation, TELUS will email or mail you a postage-paid return waybill. Pack all rented equipment (modem, router, power adapters, cables) securely in a box, affix the waybill, and drop it at any Canada Post location. Keep your tracking receipt. Failure to return within 28 days results in unreturned equipment charges.

Check your final bill

Your final bill will include a pro-rated credit from your cancellation date to your next bill date (since TELUS bills one month in advance). It will also list any ETF or unreturned equipment charges. If a credit balance remains, a refund cheque is mailed to your billing address.
