Can I cancel Optimizely myself online without contacting anyone?

Only if you are on a legacy plan (Gold, Silver, or Bronze). Legacy plan holders can go to Account Settings → Plan & Billing → click 'Cancel' in the Billing window. Current enterprise plans have no self-serve cancellation — you must contact your Customer Success Manager in writing.

Will I get a refund if I cancel mid-contract?

No. Optimizely's standard terms state all fees are non-cancellable and non-refundable. Pro-rata refunds of unused prepaid fees are only available if Optimizely has materially breached the agreement (warranty failure, IP infringement, or material modification of the terms). Cancellation for convenience does not qualify.

What happens to my data after cancellation?

You must export all data before the subscription ends. Optimizely may permanently delete all Customer Data any time after 30 days from the subscription expiry date. This deletion is irreversible — Optimizely cannot recover your data once it has been deleted.

How much notice do I need to give before cancelling?

Under the current Terms of Service (2024-10), you must give written notice of non-renewal at least 90 days before your Subscription Term end date. If you are on an older contract, your specific signed agreement governs — check your Order Form, as older contracts may have required only 30 days' notice.

Can I reactivate my Optimizely account after cancellation?

Reactivation is not documented in public terms. You would need to contact the Optimizely sales team and negotiate a new contract. There is no self-serve reactivation option.

How do I fully delete my Optimizely account and personal data?

Submit a support ticket at support.optimizely.com requesting account deletion. Data is deleted within 30 days and the deletion is irreversible. GDPR or CCPA deletion requests can also be submitted through Optimizely's records deletion process.

Review your contract terms

Locate your signed Order Form and check the Subscription Term end date and the required notice period. Current Optimizely enterprise contracts (Terms of Service 2024-10) require written notice of non-renewal at least 90 days before the end of your Subscription Term. Missing this window triggers automatic renewal for another 12-month term.

Export all your data

Before initiating cancellation, log in and export all experiment results, audience data, content, and any Customer Data you need to retain. Optimizely may permanently delete all Customer Data within 30 days of subscription expiry — this deletion is irreversible.

Contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM)

Send a written notice of non-renewal directly to your assigned Customer Success Manager via email. Clearly state your intent not to renew and include your account name and Subscription Term end date. If you do not know who your CSM is, log in to the Optimizely app and open a support ticket at support.optimizely.com — support will loop in your CSM.

Get written confirmation

Follow up to obtain a written acknowledgment email from Optimizely confirming receipt of your non-renewal notice. Keep this for your records — it is your proof that you gave notice within the required window.

Cease use at subscription end

Stop accessing the service and all Customer Data on the subscription end date per the contract terms. Verify that the account has been fully closed by checking you can no longer log in after the end date.
