If you only disable auto-renewal, you retain full access until the current paid term expires. If you request an immediate cancellation via Live Chat, access is terminated when the cancellation is processed (within 24–48 hours), and files are permanently deleted with no recovery option. Download all backups before requesting immediate cancellation.

What is Namecheap's refund policy?

Shared hosting, WordPress hosting, and EasyWP plans are eligible for a full refund within 30 days of the original purchase date. SSL certificates have a 25-day refund window. Domain registrations are non-refundable. Private Email cancelled through the Admin Panel is non-refundable. Auto-renewal charges made within the last 48 hours can typically be refunded by contacting support. Refunds are processed in 5–10 business days.

Does cancelling my hosting also cancel my domain name?

No. Hosting and domain registrations are completely separate. Cancelling your hosting plan does not affect your domain registration. You must disable auto-renewal on each domain individually in your Domain List to prevent it from renewing. Domains that are not renewed expire and eventually become available for others to register.

Can I reactivate my hosting account after cancelling?

If you only disabled auto-renewal, you can re-enable it at any time before the expiry date. If you requested an immediate cancellation, your hosting data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. You would need to purchase a new plan and start fresh.

What happens to my data when my hosting account is cancelled?

Upon immediate cancellation processing, all your files, databases, and emails hosted on the account are permanently deleted with no grace period or recovery option. Namecheap strongly recommends downloading a full cPanel backup before submitting a cancellation request.

How do I cancel a domain I no longer want?

Domains cannot be cancelled mid-term — they are non-refundable purchases. Your only options are: (1) disable auto-renewal in Domain List → Manage → toggle 'Auto-Renew' OFF and let it expire at the end of its registration period, or (2) transfer it to another registrar or sell it. There is no way to get a refund on a domain registration.

Log in and go to your Dashboard

Sign in at namecheap.com. From the top navigation, click your username or 'Account', then select 'Dashboard'. This is your central hub for all products.

Open your Hosting List

In the left sidebar of the Dashboard, click 'Hosting List' (or navigate to 'Domain List' → top-right dropdown 'All Products'). Locate the hosting plan you want to cancel.

Click 'Manage' on your hosting plan

Find your hosting plan in the list and click the orange 'Manage' button to the right of it. This opens the product management page.

Disable Auto-Renewal

On the hosting management page, find the 'Auto-Renew' toggle and switch it OFF. This stops future billing when the current term expires. For an immediate cancellation with a refund (within 30-day money-back window), you must also contact Live Chat.

Request immediate cancellation via Live Chat (if needed)

Click the chat bubble icon in the bottom-right corner of any Namecheap page to open Live Chat. Tell the agent you want to cancel your hosting account and request a refund. Provide your hosting username and reason. Processing takes 24–48 hours.

Disable auto-renewal on each domain

Go to 'Domain List' in the left sidebar. For each domain, click 'Manage', find the 'Auto-Renew' section, and toggle it OFF. Domains cannot be cancelled — they can only be allowed to expire or transferred. Repeat for WhoisGuard and any add-ons, which each have their own separate auto-renewal toggle.

Cancel additional products (Email, EasyWP, SSL)

For Private Email: go to 'Email Hosting' in the dashboard, click 'Manage' on the subscription, then click 'Cancel subscription' (note: non-refundable). For EasyWP: go to 'Apps' menu, find EasyWP, and toggle the switch OFF. For SSL: disable auto-renewal in 'SSL Certificates' list.
