What happens to my data when I terminate a workspace?

Encrypted data is automatically and securely purged from all systems upon termination. Administrative backup data is purged within 14 days. Data cannot be recovered after termination — back up anything you need to an external object store before terminating.

Does terminating my workspaces stop all charges?

Terminating workspaces stops compute billing immediately. However, if you have a committed credit subscription (monthly or annual), you remain liable for contracted credits until the term ends. Contact SingleStore support to discuss early termination of your subscription contract.

Can I get a refund after canceling?

SingleStore bills for actual usage at the end of each month for on-demand customers. Refund eligibility for unused committed credits depends on your contract terms. Contact your Account Executive or team@singlestore.com for refund inquiries.

Can I pause instead of fully canceling?

Yes — navigate to Deployments > Workspaces, click the three-dot Actions menu, and select 'Suspend Workspace'. Suspending stops compute charges while retaining your databases, making it easy to resume later. Storage fees may still apply.

Is there a free tier I can downgrade to instead of canceling?

Yes. SingleStore offers a Free Starter Workspace tier. Rather than fully canceling, you can terminate paid workspaces and continue using the free shared tier, avoiding charges while keeping your account active.

How do I reactivate after canceling?

For suspended workspaces, go to Deployments > Overview and click 'Resume' on the workspace card. If your account was fully closed, contact SingleStore at team@singlestore.com or sign up again at singlestore.com.

Log in to the SingleStore Portal

Go to portal.singlestore.com and sign in with your credentials. You must have Admin permissions on the organization to manage workspaces and billing.

Back up your data

Before terminating any workspace, export all data you need to an external object storage bucket (e.g., AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage). Terminated workspace data is permanently and irrecoverably purged — there is no undo.

Navigate to Deployments > Workspaces

In the left sidebar of the portal, click 'Deployments', then select 'Workspaces' to view all active workspaces in your organization.

Terminate each workspace

For each workspace, click the three-dot menu (...) under the Actions column and select 'Terminate Workspace', then confirm. Alternatively, go to Deployments > Overview, click the three dots on the workspace card, and select 'Terminate Workspace'. This immediately stops compute billing for that workspace.

Contact SingleStore to cancel your subscription

Terminating workspaces stops compute charges but does NOT cancel committed credit subscriptions (monthly or annual plans). Email team@singlestore.com or contact your assigned Account Executive to formally request subscription cancellation and full account closure.

Confirm cancellation in writing

Wait for a response from the SingleStore team confirming subscription termination. Request written confirmation of your cancellation date and that no further charges will be made. Administrative backup data is purged within 14 days of workspace termination.
