Can I still access my transaction history and statements after closing?

Yes. Read-only access to all historical statements, transactions, and the account closure letter remains available after voluntary closure. Mercury recommends downloading statements before initiating the closure as a precaution.

What happens to my remaining balance when I close my account?

Your balance must be $0.00 before you can initiate closure. If Mercury closes your account for compliance reasons and a balance remains, they will mail a physical check to the address on file.

Can I reactivate my Mercury account after closing it?

No reactivation option is documented. Closed accounts are treated as permanently closed with no transactional capability. You would need to submit a new application to open a new account.

What happens to incoming payments sent to my closed account?

Incoming payments after closure are canceled — they are not forwarded to another account. Update all vendors and recurring payments to your new bank before closing.

Can I close my Mercury account from the mobile app?

No. Account closure is only supported via the web dashboard at app.mercury.com. The mobile app does not have this option.

Is there a fee to close my Mercury account?

No. Mercury does not charge any fee for voluntary account closure.

Log in via web dashboard

Go to app.mercury.com and log in. Account closure is only available on the web dashboard — the mobile app does not support this.

Zero out your account balance

Before starting, transfer all funds out so every checking, savings, and sub-account shows exactly $0.00. Use ACH, wire transfer, or a linked bank account. Wait for all transfers to fully settle.

Resolve pending transactions

Ensure no pending card transactions remain. Pending transactions can take up to 30 business days to settle. The closure flow is blocked until all transactions are settled.

Open Settings > Company Profile

Click 'Settings' in the left navigation sidebar, then select 'Company Profile'.

Click 'Start Request' under Close Account

Scroll to the bottom of the Company Profile page to find the 'Close Account' section. Click the 'Start Request' button.

Select a reason and provide feedback

Choose a reason for closing from the provided options and optionally add feedback. This is a simple dropdown/form — no retention offers or popups are shown.

Submit with 'Request to Close'

Review your selections on the confirmation screen, then click 'Request to Close' to submit. Mercury's team reviews the request within 2 business days and sends an email confirmation when the account is officially closed.
