Will I lose access to my files immediately after canceling?

Yes. Once you cancel, your account is closed immediately and your stored data is scheduled for deletion. You should download any files you want to keep before canceling.

How long before my data is permanently deleted?

SpiderOak provides approximately a 5-day grace period after cancellation before permanently deleting your encrypted files. If you canceled by mistake, contact support@spideroak.com immediately — recovery may be possible within this window.

Can I get a refund after canceling?

SpiderOak's official policy does not guarantee refunds. However, refunds are sometimes granted on a case-by-case basis — contact billing@spideroak.com to request one and explain your situation. Canceling during the 21-day free trial incurs no charge.

Can I reactivate my account after canceling?

If you cancel by mistake, contact SpiderOak support immediately (within ~5 days before data is purged) to request reactivation. After your data has been permanently deleted, there is no reactivation path and you would need to create a new account from scratch.

Does uninstalling the app cancel my subscription?

No. Uninstalling the SpiderOak desktop or mobile app does not cancel your subscription or stop billing. You must explicitly cancel through the Account page on the website.

Will SpiderOak delete all my personal data when I cancel?

Uploaded files are deleted after the ~5-day grace period. However, billing records are retained indefinitely for tax and legal reasons even after account deletion. You can contact SpiderOak to request deletion of personal data under GDPR or other privacy rights.

Log in to SpiderOak

Go to https://spideroak.com/browse/login/storage and sign in with your email address and password.

Open the Account tab

After logging in, click the 'Account' tab in the top navigation of the web interface.

Scroll to the bottom

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the Account page. The cancellation link is not prominently displayed — it is a plain text link at the very bottom.

Click 'Cancel my account'

Click the 'Cancel my account' text link at the bottom of the page.

Confirm cancellation

Follow the confirmation prompt to finalize the cancellation of your account.

Cancel PayPal billing separately (if applicable)

If you pay via PayPal, log into your PayPal account and manually cancel the recurring payment to SpiderOak. SpiderOak does not automatically stop PayPal billing when an account is closed — skipping this step will result in continued charges.
