Can I cancel Toptal if I have active engagements?

No. Toptal requires that you have no active engagements at the time of cancellation. You must end all ongoing freelancer engagements through the platform before your cancellation request can be processed.

Will I get a refund when I cancel?

Platform Subscription fees are non-refundable. The only exception is if Toptal was unable to present any talent candidates to you, in which case you may request a refund of up to one month's subscription fee.

How much notice do I need to give before canceling?

Toptal's Terms of Service require written notice at least three (3) business days before your next billing date. If you miss this window, you will be charged for the next billing cycle.

Log in to your Toptal account

Go to toptal.com and sign in with your credentials. Toptal's Platform Subscription is a client-facing paid tier, so ensure you are logged in as a client account.

Open Account Settings

Click on your profile avatar or name in the top-right corner of the dashboard, then select 'Settings' from the dropdown menu.

Navigate to the Subscription tab

Inside Account Settings, locate and click the 'Subscription' tab to view your current Platform Subscription details and billing information.

Click 'Cancel Subscription'

Find and click the 'Cancel Subscription' button on the Subscription page. This initiates the cancellation flow.

Confirm no active engagements

Toptal will check — and you must confirm — that you have no active engagements (ongoing work with freelancers) on your account. If you do have active engagements, you must close them before cancellation is permitted.

Complete cancellation prompts

Follow any on-screen confirmation prompts to finalize the cancellation request. You may be asked to provide a cancellation reason.

Send written notice via email (required backup)

Per Toptal's Terms of Service, cancellation requires written notice at least three (3) business days before your next billing date. Send a cancellation email to support@toptal.com stating your intent to cancel, your account email, and the desired cancellation date as a record of the notice.
