1

Identify your actual service provider

Alarm.com does not sell directly to consumers — your subscription is managed by an authorized dealer (e.g., ADT, Brinks, Surety Home, Safe Home Central, or a local security company). Log in to the Alarm.com app or web portal at alarm.com, go to 'Settings' → 'Contact Support' to find your service provider's name and contact information.

2

Review your monitoring contract

Before canceling, check your contract for early termination fees and notice requirements. Many traditional dealers require 30-day written notice and charge a cancellation fee (typically $75–$300 depending on remaining contract months). Self-service dealers like Surety Home are month-to-month with no fees.

3

Contact your dealer to request cancellation

Call or email your service provider directly — there is no way to cancel through the Alarm.com platform itself. For traditional dealers (ADT, Brinks, etc.), call their customer retention line. For self-service dealers like Surety Home, log in to your account dashboard, select 'Alarm Subscriptions', find your active subscription, and click the 'Cancel Service' button.

4

Submit written cancellation notice if required

Many dealers require a written cancellation request via email or certified mail. Ask for confirmation of receipt and note the effective cancellation date. Keep a record of all communication including date, representative name, and confirmation number.

5

Request release of your communicator (if switching providers)

If you plan to use your existing hardware with a new monitoring provider, explicitly request that your dealer release your communicator's IMEI/ESN from the Alarm.com platform. Only one dealer can have your communicator registered at a time. Get written confirmation that the release has been completed.

6

Confirm service termination and billing stop

After cancellation is processed, verify in writing that monitoring has been deactivated and no further charges will be made. Check your bank/card statement the following billing cycle to confirm charges have stopped. The Alarm.com app and connected devices will stop functioning once the account is deactivated.
