Gather your account details
Before calling, locate your Vivint service/account number (found on your monthly statement or in the Vivint app under 'Account'), the name on the account, your service address, and any documentation for special circumstances (military orders, assisted living paperwork, etc.) that may qualify you for a fee waiver.
Call Vivint Customer Loyalty
Dial 1-800-216-5232, extension 5020. This is the dedicated cancellation/loyalty line. Standard hours are Monday–Saturday 6 AM–11 PM MT and Sunday 8 AM–9 PM MT. Be prepared for hold times; calling mid-morning on a weekday is typically fastest.
Verify your identity
The representative will ask you to confirm the account holder's name, service address, account number, and a security PIN or the last four digits of your SSN. Only the named account holder can initiate cancellation.
State your intent to cancel and negotiate
Clearly state you wish to cancel your monitoring contract. Expect the agent to offer retention incentives including a reduced monthly rate, free equipment upgrades, or a temporary billing pause. If you want to cancel outright, decline all offers and ask them to proceed. If you qualify for an extenuating-circumstance waiver (military deployment, assisted living, death, bankruptcy), state this now and have documentation ready to submit.
Confirm remaining balance and cancellation date
Ask the agent to state the exact remaining contract balance you owe (most contracts require paying 100% of the remaining months), your official cancellation date (must be at least 30 days after your written notice), and whether any equipment financing balance must be paid off separately before service ends.
Receive and sign the Notice of Cancellation (NOC)
Vivint will email you a formal Notice of Cancellation document. Review it carefully to confirm the cancellation date and any amounts due. Sign the document electronically or print, sign, and return it via email, fax, or certified mail (certified mail is recommended so you have a delivery confirmation receipt).
Get written confirmation of cancellation
After returning the signed NOC, call back or request an email confirmation showing your account cancellation date and confirmation number. Keep this record. Your monitoring service will stop on the confirmed cancellation date; your equipment will remain installed but inactive without monitoring.
