Go to GitHub Settings
Click your profile picture in the upper-right corner of any GitHub page, then click 'Settings' from the dropdown menu.
Open Billing and Licensing
In the left sidebar under the 'Access' section, click 'Billing and licensing'.
View Additional Billing Details
On the Billing page, click 'Additional billing details' to expand your current plan information.
Click Edit on Current Plan
Under 'Current plan', click the 'Edit' dropdown button next to your GitHub Pro plan.
Select Downgrade to Free
From the Edit dropdown menu, click 'Downgrade to Free'.
Review Feature Loss Warning
GitHub displays a list of Pro features your account will lose access to on your next billing date (e.g., advanced code review tools on private repositories, GitHub Pages on private repos). Read the information carefully.
Confirm the Downgrade
Click the 'I understand. Continue with downgrade' button to confirm. The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle — you retain Pro access until then.
